Mike Chapman – Photographer

 

 

South Wales Photographer Mike Chapman was born in Cardiff in 1966,  he went to Stanwell Comprehensive School in Penarth.

After studying photography at the University of Westminster Faculty of Communications, Mike started his photographic career shooting fashion portfolios for London model agencies Elite, Select, and Models 1 during the late eighties.

In 1993 he moved to Australia where he worked as a freelance photographer shooting fashion spreads for national magazines and doing corporate commercial work.  His pictures appeared in the national and regional press as well as a host of advertising and promotional publications.

In 1998 he returned to the UK to continued success in the corporate and advertising sphere, his PR pictures once again making the national and regional press on a regular basis.  He has an impressive nationwide client base and has undertaken commissions across Europe as well as in the UK.

In 2006 he helped set up News and Pictures, a freelance press copy and photography agency which has had success in the music festival industry covering Glastonbury, Bestival, The Big Chill, Bestival, Sunrise, Green Man, Lovebox, Waveform, Escape to the Park, The Cardiff Big Weekender and Reading Festival. 

Other journalistic assignments include the launches of Tsunami Relief at The Coal Exchange - Cardiff, Bodyworlds Exhibition at the O2 arena, 999 its time at Quo Vadis, Worldshift 2012 at the British Museum.

Coverage of note includes photographic placements in The Times, The Sunday Times, The Times Educational Supplement, The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Weekly News, Rolling Stone, Q Magazine, The Word, Mizz, The Sun, The Daily Mirror, The Daily Express, Web User, Asharq Al-Awsat, What Computer, Internet World as well as countless regional publications.

As well as continuing his advertising and PR work he is currently Photographic Editor for Worldshift Media, the public voice of the Worldshift Council, a philanthropic organisation committed to promoting peace, justice, sustainability, social innovation & conscious evolution whose members include the Dalai Lama, Mikhail Gorbachev, Deepak Chopra, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Peter Gabriel, Barbara Marx-Hubbard, and Dr Ervin Laszlo.

 

 

 

 

Monique Green – Second Photographer/Photographer’s Assistant

 

Born in Brisbane Australia, moved to the UK in 1993.

 

Monique has been a photographer’s assistant for over twenty years but six years ago started working as a freelance photographer. 

 

Wales has become her second home.  “I only miss Australia when I’m trying to swim in the sea – I’m just not used to the cold, but the warmth of the people more than makes up for it,  I love the welsh, they’re kind, funny and very underrated.”
